Some
Wolf (Canis aureus "lupaster", bona species?)
pictures...
...taken by Mrs. Mary Megally and Lajos Nemeth-Boka 20 km
N of Assuan/Upper Egypt, on the West Bank (11 Nov., 2007).
Seems so far the only pictures ever taken and the only observation
of living specimen.

Update: From my recent tour to Libya I have got evidence
of futher populations. Evidences incl. a skin and a photograph,
will published soon.
The name "lupaster"should be used as provisorical,
as the name seems to be a junior subj. synonim, while further
genus-revision of original type-specimens required (pers.
comm by Tony Gonzales, in press).
There will be articles appearing soon about this cryptic
taxa in BBC Wildlife and African Geographic Magazines.
I
photographed this specimen at 4200-4300 high in Simien Mts.
I think its a normal Golden Jackal, but any further
comment would be appreciated very much!
